Clamping and Sealing

Application-driven solutions for safe, reliable and efficient pressure testing

More than applying pressure

Reliable valve testing requires more than applying pressure. Our valve test benches are engineered to verify shell strength, seat tightness and operational performance in accordance with international standards, including API 598, EN 12266 and ISO 5208.

Precisely controlled hydraulic and pneumatic test systems deliver accurate, repeatable results while ensuring safe operation throughout the complete test cycle. Every system is designed to maximise test integrity and minimise operator intervention.

Designed around pressure forces

During pressure testing, the internal test pressure generates significant axial forces that attempt to separate the valve from the test connections. The clamping system must therefore apply sufficient force to exceed these pressure-induced loads while avoiding unnecessary stress on the valve body.

We offer electric, pneumatic and hydraulic clamping solutions, each selected according to valve type, pressure class and testing requirements. Hydraulic clamping provides the highest and most controllable clamping forces, while proportional control optimises sealing performance and protects the valve from excessive mechanical loading.

Application-driven sealing

The effectiveness of a valve test bench depends as much on the sealing method as on the applied test pressure. We select the most suitable sealing technology based on valve geometry, connection type and pressure rating.

Conventional O-ring adapters provide reliable sealing for high-pressure testing, while Vulkollan® sealing discs enable rapid testing where lower sealing forces are sufficient. By matching the sealing method to the application, we improve repeatability, reduce setup time and extend the service life of both the valve and the test equipment.

Appropriate clamping force

For valves where conventional face sealing is impractical or where excessive clamping forces should be avoided, Inner Seal, Outer Seal or S.E.T. adapters offer an advanced sealing solution. Instead of relying on high external clamping forces, these systems create the pressure seal directly within the valve bore or connection.

This significantly reduces mechanical loading on the valve while ensuring a secure, reliable seal under test pressure. The result is improved testing of complex valve geometries, faster setup and changeover times and highly repeatable test performance. These sealing technologies are particularly suited to high-pressure applications where precision, reliability and testing efficiency are critical.

Better test performance

Every valve presents unique mechanical and sealing challenges. Our engineering expertise lies in analysing pressure forces, sealing surfaces, dimensional tolerances and valve geometry to determine the optimum clamping and sealing strategy for each application. Where standard clamping or sealing methods are not suitable, we design and engineer customised solutions that ensure safe operation, reliable sealing and consistent, repeatable test results.

This application-specific approach not only improves testing efficiency and reduces wear on both the test bench and the valve, but also provides confidence that every valve is tested in full compliance with the required performance standards.
